I currently have a Keelback that has some mining kit on it already. Would outfitting my Keelback to be a dedicated miner be just as advantageous as purchasing another ship to turn into a miner?
Or am I better off selling the Keelback for a better ship.
I haven't mined too much, a lot of trading, exploring, and combat.

Hey, I’m new to Elite Dangerous and looking to properly build out my first ship. I’m looking to do a combat-exploration hybrid and wondering what harpoints, internals, and utility mounts I should go with without engineering. Thanks in advanced for any tips.
I calculated 45 051 428c but not sure if im right
Traveling 20 light years on my diamondback explorer takes 14 seconds
It takes light to travel the same distance 20 years (duh) which is ~630 720 000 seconds
630 720 000 divided by 14 is 45 051 428 which is how many times faster my ship is than light
Is this right? Is there any lore on this? Im a new player (30 hours) but watched a bunch of videos on the game, dont care about lore spoilers.
Why is it that when I jump into a system and do a full spectrum scan, that sometimes the planets are already revealed on the spectrum and sometimes they’re not. I have not seen a correlation between them showing up vs not and them being previously discovered or mapped. If anyone could offer some information that would be awesome. In other words when I launch the full spectrum scanner sometimes it is only spikes for signal source. And other times it shows as a circle and a number of how many gas giants or rocky bodies there are. I’m trying to figure out why there’s a difference because I have not observed I relationship Between undiscovered areas by myself or undiscovered areas by anyone else. Maybe it is secondary to the storyline?
I do not have any cargo racks and I plan on going on a long journey to get meta-alloys. Do I need cargo racks for this journey if I am purchasing from Maia A 2 A?
1. Get a seismic charge launcher. Deep core mining is meta.
2. Get point defense or ECM to fend off hatch breakers
3. Back to deep core mining: I did some testing and in 2/3 cases motherload asteroids were most common in about 30 km radius away from the hotspot.
4. Get highest class collectors right after shields
5. Col 285 sector XN-D A28-2 body 10 has rings covered with vopal and Ltd hotspots. (Dont forget a DSS)
6. If you use prospectors on asteroids they will give 2x the chunks with laser mining
7. Can't find motherload asteroids? Fire your pulse wave scanner and search for bright yellow asteroids that don't lose their color if approached. Also if near them and not sure, look for cracks on them, if there are any, those are fissures and can be cracked.
8. If you buy a mining Lance I will FIND YOU AND RIP YOUR HANDS OFF (dont even THINK about the mining Lance because you might get brain damage.
9. Dont go to asteroid clusters. Just rings
10. Icy rings have the highest chance of valuable minerals while metallic and metal-rich drop valuable metals and sometimes materials and rocky rings are shit
I just got Elite Dangerous on my PS4 and am lost and don’t know where to begin. I have already died 3 Times, one time because I accidentally drove close to the sun and managed to burn my ship, and the other 2 times because I ran out of fuel. I tried completing a mission but was unsuccessful because I don’t know how to interact with stuff because we can’t get out and walk around so my SRV blew up so I had to abandon the mission.
I thought about doing some mining but I don’t know how to mine I did the tutorial but wasn’t clear where we need to go to get a mining laser, refiner, or upgrade our ships, etc.
Where do I go to get new Modules for my ship? (So I can mine, or fuel scoop, or upgrade my ship so it does better)
How can I scan planets? ( Do I need a detailed scanner module )
I would also like people to answer to this how they started and what you would tell someone just starting out to do? (Comment some tips, tricks to help people get a good start)

As the title says, where can I find a list of credits? Not the currency credits, the one that says who made the art, programmed stuff and others. I don't have elite dangerous yet so I can't look in the game, can someone make a wiki page for the game credits? That would be wonderful.
I'm wanting a dedicated ship to get me around the galaxy as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This is just about pure jump ability, additional modules are no concern. Small, medium, large, doesn't matter.
So i wanted to hear all the sounds like canopy breaches and other stuff without COVAS ruining it. Is there any way i can mute COVAS?
Looked at my codex after returning from Sag A and couldn't believe I have almost topped 12,000 jumps and 25,904ly from start. I need to get a life ;-)
I'm in Deciat and have around 6 mil saved, and I have to cross the bubble to get to my next engineers, so pretty much anywhere will do, but I'm looking to spend as little as possible so I can kit it out once I have it without completely cannibalizing my faithful little cobra mk3 (I'm super attached to the paint job, and she's served me well). I'm also willing to go for an ASPX, but I like the narrower profile of the DBX. Anyone with a carrier selling in my price range?
I assume that I get paid for Cartography Data if I jump into a system with a black hole. Does it auto scan like the stars or do I need to get closer? Also does surface scanning a planetary body that is old pay better then scanning it if it is the same class but younger? If I scan a gas’s giant class II that is 2 billion years old will it be the same if it’s 10 billion years old?

I have about 17 million in the bank. Currently I am partaking in a little light combat and bounty-hunting near the NAV begins as well as exploration trips.I am looking for a ship with a little more fire power and the ability to be more proficient with exploration. Multi crew as well. Keep saving or...buy? Recommendations please?
Can you scan a star for cartography data and if so how?
