Per my CMDR Stats, Im at 98ish% completion of Rookie and accrured I'm showing 47M Profit as opposed to 38M Profit for the rank and progression. Has there been a change to this?

Does ship orientation affect cooling? By that I mean does your ship cool faster/ build heat slower if the heat vents are facing away from a star when jumping/scooping? or does it not matter?
In the odyssey tutorial I had many more items to switch to than I have now when on foot, I was wondering if anyone knew where /how I purchase and upgrade my suit features. Mind you like the moron I am I restarted so I am currently in a Zorgon Peterson Hauler my jump range is low I am working my way up to a Lakon Asp Explorer I stick to Nanabozho system and the surrounding area for the most part, so I have yet to see any of the new starports since odyssey dropped
Hello all.
So I recently bought the Odyssey expansion (I know, but it's actually OK in my opinion, I play Elite for the exploration mostly) and I noticed that salvaging can get you major credits. I'm talking like 100k+ every job, which takes like 10 minutes to do if it's in the same system. I quickly noticed on my first mission that you would need to fend off a small group of criminals to get the salvage. No problem, I picked them off with my Scarab.
Unfortunately, doing higher threat level missions (3+) will get my Scarab absolutely decimated by the opposing forces. Then, I learned about the Scorpion. I have been searching everywhere for it, I am in a system with a military economy, (which is booming, by the way) and I have been traveling to settlements, colonies, and starports alike, but all only sell the Scarab. Is there something I am missing?
I don’t really understand the divert power system
I'm looking to go and visit some of the largest stars, and this one has come up recently as the largest star, and what I wondered was, has anyone been to it or even if its included in the ED galaxy yet? If not, will it be added, I don't know how the devs add stuff, or if they do. I've been away for a while.
That will be my first bigger exploration. I currently use Diamondback Explorer (due to it's jump range compared to others with similar price), and I currently have engineering 2, that's 40-45 ly. Other modules are configured to maximize jump range as well, because I want to use this ship for ratting later.
With current jump range, I have around 45 jumps to the star. I don't know if I should do it now or wait until I engineer my FSD fully, that is to around 70 ly iirc.
I have played Elite Dangerous for at least 5 months now, and I have myself a python and about 80 million credits.
I have tried nearly everything you can do, including exploration (boring), mining (takes forever to find core), combat (sort of enjoyed it) and passenger missions (mind numbingly boring)...
I just don't know what to do, I keep jumping in between all of these different roles and can't seem to stick with one. I have the money to do anything.
And even when I give ED a break, I always come back with hope of sticking with something and this same problem arises once again.
Any help with sticking with a specific role (or anything new?)
Sorry for this mess of a question lol...
I dont really know the value of exploration, but I have found my first undiscovered water world, how much would it be worth woth surface scan?
Does anybody know best place to sell the new variant as im struggling to find anywhere that wants it, as all the black markets i go seem to be locked out for some reason. I do not have any bounties on me incase your wondering
I calculated 45 051 428c but not sure if im right
Traveling 20 light years on my diamondback explorer takes 14 seconds
It takes light to travel the same distance 20 years (duh) which is ~630 720 000 seconds
630 720 000 divided by 14 is 45 051 428 which is how many times faster my ship is than light
Is this right? Is there any lore on this? Im a new player (30 hours) but watched a bunch of videos on the game, dont care about lore spoilers.
I just got Elite Dangerous on my PS4 and am lost and don’t know where to begin. I have already died 3 Times, one time because I accidentally drove close to the sun and managed to burn my ship, and the other 2 times because I ran out of fuel. I tried completing a mission but was unsuccessful because I don’t know how to interact with stuff because we can’t get out and walk around so my SRV blew up so I had to abandon the mission.
I thought about doing some mining but I don’t know how to mine I did the tutorial but wasn’t clear where we need to go to get a mining laser, refiner, or upgrade our ships, etc.
Where do I go to get new Modules for my ship? (So I can mine, or fuel scoop, or upgrade my ship so it does better)
How can I scan planets? ( Do I need a detailed scanner module )
I would also like people to answer to this how they started and what you would tell someone just starting out to do? (Comment some tips, tricks to help people get a good start)
I'm wanting a dedicated ship to get me around the galaxy as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This is just about pure jump ability, additional modules are no concern. Small, medium, large, doesn't matter.
I picked up some cargo for a few missions, not realizing the drop point dosnt have large landing pads. I don't have any smaller ships with a proper cargo capacity set up and I can't modify their load out without selecting them, which I can't do while I have the cargo...
I’ve recently gotten into the game and find it quite enjoyable. Although i do want a starship upgrade. What ones would you recommend for multipurpose tasks? Thanks!
I'm having a problem with my ship. For some reason, whenever I'm trying to deploy my fighter, it says ,"Fighter Bay Malfunction(1)", and it won't let me deploy it.
I've tried logging on and off, restarting the game, and uninstalling and reinstalling the fighter hanger, but it still says the same thing.
Anybody know a solution to this?
I’ve been playing for a couple weeks now and while I enjoy some aspects of the game, I find others extremely un-intuitive. At the moment I am in search of “Distorted Shield Cycle Recordings”. I’ve found information that says you can get them by scanning cargo ships, but I can’t find reliable information about how to do this. What type of scanner do you need? How close to the ship do you need to be? One site says you need a data link scanner, I haven’t been able to get that to work. Another says you need a manifest scanner. Which is it?
I'm relatively new to Elite (I tried it out in 2017 to get a feel for it, didn't get a grasp on the learning curve but I'm back now). As a new player who's into flight sims, I'm very attracted to the combat and was wondering.
If I was to multicrew often and shoot people's turrets or fly around their fighters, would that be an okay way to make money early-game with less consequence? Or does the lack of reputation gain make it not worth the hassle? I'm sure your opinions would help others with the same question.
