A Star system is a group of stars, planets, or other celestial bodies in a common location of the galaxy. Hyperspace is used to travel between star systems. Supercruise allows faster-than-light travel within a system. These are initiated with the Frame Shift Drive. Certain star systems are permit-locked and require a permit to enter.
The constellation of star systems within the Milky Way can be viewed in the Galaxy Map. The composition of individual star systems is visible in the System Map.
System Colonisation can be conducted by commanders. Factions can have partial or full influence over star systems. Each inhabited system has a market economy and government.
