Clypeus Margaritus - Mauve
Extremophile organisms that have evolved to create hard shield structures, primarily to protect against stellar radiation. They also collect and condense traces of liquid material in the atmosphere, allowing the organisms to flourish in extremely arid environments. The shields are typically synthesized from surrounding inorganic material, which will frequently define their shape and colouration.
— In-Game Description
Clypeus are a species of alien organism found on planets and moons with thin atmospheres across the galaxy. They can be sampled with the Genetic Sampler and scanned with the Short Range Composition Scanner. They have a clonal colony range of 150m.
Types[]
There are three known types of Clypeus with differing base values:
| SPECIES | VALUE |

| Clypeus Lacrimam | 8,418,000 |
| Clypeus Margaritus | 11,873,200 |
| Clypeus Speculumi | 16,202,800 |
Distance[]
Minimum distance between two genetic samples: 150 m
Conditions of occurrence[]
- Planets with thin Carbon Dioxide or Water atmosphere
- Because of atmospheres types: only on Rocky and High Metal Content planets
- Maximum gravity: 0.27

Clypeus lacrimam[]
CMDR Tiberius Vaako, Clypeus lacrimam, Skaudai PJ-G d11-13, 6 A
Description[]
A species of clypeus that grows a broad, tear-shaped shield to protect the sensitive organism from extreme sunlight. The shield’s ridges help to direct Water droplets down into the soil.
Conditions of occurrence[]
- Planets with thin Carbon Dioxide or Water atmosphere
- Maximum gravity : 0.27
- Mean temperature superior to 190 K
Clypeus margaritus[]
CMDR Tiberius Vaako, Clypeus margaritus, Seagull Sector PT-Q b5-0 B4
Description[]
This clypeus species produces a curved shield that resembles a large pearl in shape and texture. Up to three central organisms grow within it upon a supporting bed of leaves.
Conditions of occurrence[]
- Planets with thin Carbon Dioxide or Water atmosphere
- Maximum gravity : 0.27
- Mean temperature superior to 190 K
Clypeus speculumi[]
CMDR Alistair Hope, Clypeus speculumi, Heart Sector BQ-Y d32, A 6 a
Description[]
A clypeus species that grows an angular shield with a mirrored exterior to protect the spiky organisms. This species can be found on planets orbiting their parent star at a distance of 5 AU or greater.
Conditions of occurrence[]
- Planets with thin Carbon Dioxide or Water atmosphere
- Maximum gravity : 0.27
- Mean temperature superior to 190 K
- Distance from parent star must be superior to 2 500 LS (5 AU)
