Dodec

The Dodec is the largest starport that can be built for system colonisation. It's available for ARX with early access since 11 Nov 2025.^[1]

Overview[]

The Dodec design is similar to the smaller Coriolis but with a dodecahedron external shape. Similarly to the Coriolis, some Dodec variants have long truss "arms" extending outward from the external faces, either 5 or 10 in total (Quint Truss and Dec Truss, respectively).

Colonisation[]

Dodec starports are Tier 3 facilities in System Colonisation. It can be constructed by delivering over 236,000 total tonnes of the resources listed below.^[2] If selected as the first station in a system (Primary Port location), ~20% more of each commodity is required - over 280,000 t total. The cost to build a Dodec is the same for all truss variants (0, 5, or 10-truss).

Development Notes[]

The Dodec Starport was first announced on 4 November 2025, with Frontier Developments stating that it would be available by paid access only, using ARX, perpetually.^[3] This would have been the first permanently paid-access-only item in the game that was more than cosmetic in nature, as the Dodec has specific in-game features and advantages over non-paid assets.

Following strong criticism from the player base about introducing permanent paid in-game advantages, Frontier announced a change of plans on 6 November 2025, with the Dodec initially available by paid ARX Early Access for an unspecified period of time, after which it becomes available in-game with no purchase required for users of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.^[4]

The paid Early Access period for ARX began on 11 November 2025, with the v4.2.2.0 Dodec Update to Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.^[1]

Trivia[]

The word "Dodec-" is a prefix that means the quantity "12". It's derived from the Greek word "dōdeka" which is a combination of the Greek roots "dyo" (two) and 'deka" (ten). Compound words with "dodec" are dodecahedron (12-faced polyhedron), and dodecagon (12-sided polygon).
