A Hardpoint is a mechanized mount on a ship where weapons can be installed and then deployed from or retracted within a ship's hull. Hardpoints are usually manually-deployed from within the ship's hull when needed, but some automatically deploy when in normal space.
Hardpoints can fit a multitude of different weapon types. The amount and size of hardpoints varies per ship. On some ships some hardpoints are restricted to only specific weapons, while others permit any weapon type.
Hardpoints are accessed via the Outfitting menu of Starport Services.
There are four classes of hardpoints: Small, Medium, Large, and Huge. Each class of hardpoint denotes the maximum class of weapon that can be installed there. A hardpoint may accept any weapon of equal or lower class.

Notes[]
- Deployed hardpoints will prevent a ship from charging up their Frame Shift Drive.
- The amount of hardpoints on a ship cannot be changed through any means of engineering, modifications, or outfitting.
- The size of hardpoints cannot be changed by anything in outfitting, engineering, or modifications either.
