Based on Core Dynamics’ Eagle, Gutamaya's Imperial Eagle places greater emphasis on speed and combat than its predecessor. The ship's armour and shields have been enhanced, and one of the small hardpoints of the original has been replaced with a medium hardpoint. Naturally, these features have made the ship heavier and less manoeuvrable than its predecessor, but the Imperial Eagle remains a solid choice for those seeking a high-speed attack ship.
— In-game description
The Imperial Eagle is an Imperial variant of the Eagle MkII that has been produced by Gutamaya since 3199.[1] While the Imperial Eagle can easily exceed the speed of an Eagle MkII, this enhancement comes at the cost of manoeuvrability.[2] Unlike other Imperial ships, the Imperial Eagle does not require any Imperial Navy rank to purchase.
Overview
The Imperial Eagle boasts superior armour and shield strength in addition to one medium Hardpoint replacing one of the three small hardpoints on the regular Eagle MkII, however it is not as maneuverable as the original Eagle MkII. It is one of the fastest ships in the game; in fact, with EP thrusters and Engineer upgrades, it may have the highest potential normal-space speed of any playable ship.
The weapon hardpoints are located as follows: a single medium hardpoint on the top of the ship behind the cockpit and two small hardpoints mounted side-by-side on the underside of the main fuselage in front of the bump that contains the cargo scoop.
